TransObturator Midurethral Sling Procedure
Anterior Intravaginal Slings | Burch | Durasphere Treatment | MMK | Neuromodulation | Paravaginal Repair | Periurethral Injections | Sling | TVTs | TransObturator
TransObturator Procedure is a surgery to help correct Stress Urinary Incontinence and sometime Intrinsic Sphincter Deficiency (both can cause loss of urine). It is slightly less risky than TVT in that it has less incidence of urinary retention, injury to the bladder, and takes about ½ the time compared to the TVT. However, there have been some reports of postop pain in the genital femoral folds and can be some safety issues in regards to the obturator nerve and vessels are 2 to 4.4 cm near the edge of the obturator foramen where the tunneler is placed therefore theoretically could be injured especially if the nerve and vessel are anatomically near the bottom edge of the foramen rather than near the top where these structures are supposed to be. This is considered at least as safe if not safer than the traditional TVT and anchoring procedures.
