Significant Gynecologic Practice Statistics
- One of the first GYN practices in North Carolina to provide LEEP, laparoscopic hysterectomies, Burch procedures, oophorectomies, and appendectomies (in 1989). Helped insurance industry establish coding system for these new surgical procedures including LAVH and LEEP.
- First gyn practice in Northwest North Carolina to perform Sling procedures and introduce Durasphere and Collagen Periurethral injections (in 2000) for treatment of urinary incontinence.
- 1190+ outpatient "John Hopkins no incision" vaginal hysterectomies performed from 1993 to present without significant complications.
- 2758+ MIVH’s (Minimally Invasive Vaginal Hysterectomy) developed and performed from 1987 to present (prior TVH’s not calculated) and coined the term “MIVH” and also first to publish the surgical procedure of MIVH in “Clinical Protocols of Ob/Gyn – 2nd Edition”. Registered with the library of Congress. Establishing new AMA code for MIVH with AMA.
- 210+ abdominal hysterectomies (including LAVH’s) performed from 1987 to present.
- 1130+ GYN ultrasounds performed from 1993 through present; no office ultrasound equipment prior to this
- 1250+ laparoscopic procedures with complication rate less than 1% from 1987 to present.
- 360 successful infertility cases and first GIFT Procedure at WPF Hospital (Atlanta)

- 1,000+ successful amniocentesis performed without complication from 1987 through 1998 (as referral center for high-risk pregnancies in four county area).
- 2,500+ successful epidurals performed from 1987 to present.
- 1,665 OB ultrasounds provided to pregnant women from 1987 to present.
- 25,000+ obstetrical visits between 1987 and 1998. (Visits being calculated from 2000 to present)
- Delivered only set of triplets in Elkin, NC in 21 years
- VBAC twins delivered one year apart (odds are 1 in 3,000,000) using forceps, external version and vacuum extraction (Resulted in first and last babies of two separate years in 1996-1997)
- 6,950 deliveries during OB internship, residency and private practice through 2001
- Waterbirth studied in Belgium, Certified by Maternal Global Childbirth Association for Waterbirth practitioners - established first TriCounty Waterbirth program (seventh in North Carolina)
