Balloon Therapy

Balloon Therapy | Colposcopy | Cryomyomectomy | Cryotherapy | Diagnostic Mini-Laparoscopy | D & C | Heroption | Hormone Replacement Therapy | Hysteroscopy | Laparoscopy | LEEP | Ultrasound

This is a new procedure in which a deflated balloon is filled with hot water while in the uterus.

First the balloon catheter is inserted vaginally, through the cervix, into the uterus. Inflation occurs when the balloon is filled with sterile fluid until the pressure reaches 160-180 mm of mercury.

A heating element inside the balloon raises the temperature to 187 F and mantains it for 8 minutes. The controller continuously monitors and displays catheter pressure, regulates fluid temperature and controls therapy time throughout the procedure. To insure patient safety, if any of the preset parameters are exceeded, the heating elements are automatically deactivated and the procedure immediately terminated.

When the controller signals that treatment is complete, the balloon is deflated and the catheter is withdrawn and discarded.
